Ki Sung-Yueng will miss Swansea City’s final home game with Manchester City as he is doing his military service.

The midfielder is swapping his kit for army uniform which every South Korean has to do before they are 29.

Ki, 27, should have served two years but this has been reduced to four weeks as his side won bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

But as it will give him little time for a break before the new season, the Swans have given him time off for a few days holiday ruling him out of the clash with City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Manager Francesco Guidolin said: “Ki has to go on military service, so he will not play this weekend because we want him to have some more time for a holiday.

“We wanted him to have more days off.”

Ki struggled to get into Guidolin’s starting line-up as the club won their relegation battle.

But after being handed a a first start in almost two months against West Ham he claimed only his second goal of the campaign.

The lack of game time had raised question marks over the ex-Celtic player’s future.

But Guidolin, 60, said: “I like Ki. I think last Saturday he played very, very well,” he added.

“In the shape we played last weekend, he is comfortable.”

Lukasz Fabianski will also miss out against City as he has also been given time off ahead of Poland’s Euro 2016 games so Kristoffer Nordfeldt will make his league bow.
