Wrexham kept a third successive clean sheet and went top of the Vanarama National League for a couple of hours, but manager Sam Ricketts is demanding more from his players.
The Dragons won 3-0 against AFC Fylde in their 12.30pm kick-off match at the Racecourse and Ricketts said: “I’m satisfied because we’ve won, but I’m not purring at our performance.
“It was a tight game in which, eventually, our quality in the final third came through and ultimately brought us three goals.
“There was quality in the defensive third as well with great saves, great blocks and great headers plus a bit of wayward shooting from Boreham Wood at times meant we kept a clean sheet.
“That’s what the game came down to – we didn’t play as well as I would have liked to and I know that we can do better.
“Just my standards because I know what we are capable. Wrexham fans should be proud of players. True men, true characters.”
More than 4,300 spectators watched Jordan Maguire-Drew, Rekeil Pyke and Mike Fondop score for Wrexham against a Fylde club who were beaten in the play-off final last season.
Goalkeeper Rob Lainton made some good saves as Wrexham took their points total to seven from three matches and finished the day in fifth place.
Ricketts made one change to his team with Stuart Beavon called up for Paul Rutherford.
Maguire-Drew fired Wrexham ahead after 26 minutes, heading in a cross from James Jennings at the far post.
Wrexham lost Luke Young injured after 38 minutes with Rutherford going on, while Mark Carrington replaced right-back Kevin Roberts at half-time.
Ricketts then sent on Pyke for Beavon just before the hour and he made it 2-0 after 67 minutes, netting from close range after a scramble for possession.
Lainton tipped a long-range shot onto a post, while Fondop clinched victory with five minutes left when he headed in Pyke’s cross.
The next fixture for Wrexham is at Maidenhead on Tuesday.
