Wrexham will get a chance for revenge for their 2013 National League play-off final at Wembley when they host Newport County in an all-Welsh clash in the second round of the FA Cup.
It will be only the 10th time two Welsh teams have met in the FA Cup from the first round proper onwards and the first since Newport County met Swansea City in 2006. The game will be played over the weekend of 1 December.
The two teams met for the first time in the FA Cup in the sixth qualifying round in the 1921-22 season. It ended 0-0 in the north before County won the replay 3-0 in the south.
Wrexham have already pocketed £51,000 for beating Harrogate Town and Weston-super-Mare to date this season and there will be a cheque for £54,000 up for grabs for the team that reaches the third round and goes into the hat with the Premier League and Championship clubs.
Michael Flynn’s Newport side grabbed their fair share of the headlines last season for beating Leeds United in the third round and then taking Tottenham to a replay before finally bowing out at Wembley.
Now they will be the senior side primed for a giant killing act by the current leaders of the National League.
In the three seasons Wrexham and County met in the National League before the Newport team returned to the Football League, the north Walians won three and drew three.
