Connah’s Quay moved to within a point of JD Welsh Premier League leaders The New Saints after a comfortable win over Llandudno as Cardiff Met fall out of the top-six.

Connah’s Quay captain Callum Morris spearheaded his side to a commanding 4-0 win, despite the Nomads finishing the game with 10-men after Danny Holmes was cautioned twice. Morris converted two second-half penalties adding to the hosts’ two-goal advantage at half-time.

The New Saints were held to a goalless draw by Bala Town on Friday night as the Lakesiders finally claimed their first away point of the season.

Barry Town remain third thanks to a 90+2 winner from Momodou Touray as the Dragons rallied back from a goal against Cefn Druids.

Two goals in two minutes saw Newtown force their way into the top-six at the expense of Cardiff Met, who slip to eighth. Sam Snaith got the Students’ afternoon off to an encouraging start by putting his side ahead at Latham Park before Alex Fletcher and Neil Mitchell struck in quick succession.

A second-half rally saw Aberystwyth take a share of the spoils against west-Wales rivals Carmarthen. Luke Bowen and Liam Thomas had given the Old Gold a commanding lead at the break before the visitors hit back with strikes from Ashley Ruane and Declan Walker as both sides remain in the bottom-half.

Caernarfon Town remain in top-six contention after three second-half goals added to Llanelli’s plight. Substitute Cai Jones completed the scoring for the Cofis to leave Reds fixed firmly to the bottom of the table.
