Anna Hursey, Wales’ youngest ever representative in the Commonwealth Games, has made a winning start on the Gold Coast.
Cardiff-based Anna, aged 11, played alongside Charlotte Carey and they won 3-2 against India in the table tennis doubles.
Charlotte, from Ebbw Vale, is 21-years-old and an ideal partner for Anna, having played for Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi at the age of 14.
The Welsh pair made a stunning start at the Games and Anna said: “I was really excited and a bit nervous, but because I was doubling up with Charlotte I felt good about the game.
“It wasn’t that scary once I started and I really enjoyed the game.”
Anna started playing at Penlan Leisure Centre in Swansea when she was just five-years-old, and is clear her ambitions include winning medal at major championships.
“My aim is to win any medal,” she says. “But my dream is to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games.”
Anna Hursey been in the news since being selected to represent Wales at the Gam es.
Despite her victory alongside Charlotte, Wales went on to lose the best-of-five match 3-1 against India.
