Athletics action may have been at a premium during 2020, but that hasn’t stopped Welsh athletes producing some outstanding performances.
In order the celebrate their achievements during this strangest of all years, Welsh Athletics has introduced a new award – performance of the year.
The sport’s governing body has chosen 10 outstanding performances by Welsh athletes over the past 12 months and is asking for athletics fans to vote for their favourite.
The nominations are:
Sam Gordon – 60m British Indoor Championships Silver Medal (6.70)
Joe Brier – 400m British Indoor Championships Silver Medal (47.92)
Adele Nicol – Shot Put British Indoor Championships Bronze Medal (16.19)
Melissa Courtney-Bryant – 3rd at Stockholm Diamond League 1500m (4:01.83)
Jake Smith – 18th at World Half Marathon, Welsh Record, British U23 Record (60:31)
Rebecca Chapman – Long Jump British Championships Bronze Medal (6.14)
Bethany Moule – Javelin British Championships Bronze Medal (51.27)
Andrew Davies – V40 British Marathon Record (2:14.36)
Josh Griffiths – British Marathon Championships Bronze Medal (2:13.11)
Natasha Cockram – British Marathon Champion (2:33.19)

The performance of the year prize is just one part of Welsh Athletics’ Annual Awards, which will take on a slightly different format this year due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
There is still time to make nominations for this year’s awards, but you will have to hurry as the deadline is midnight on Sunday, November 29.
