Wales have stormed into the European Under-19 Squash Championship quarter-finals following wins against Norway and Denmark.
Lewis Poole and Srikar Mummidi won both of their matches to clinch 2-1 wins against both countries, while Ciara Richards
Aberdare’s Richards, an 18-year-old ranked 185 in the World, fought two incredibly close and tenacious matches.
Richards was edged out 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 8-11, 3-11 by Denmark’s Kiara Moller, while her clash with Norway was even closer.
Madelaine Hylland earned a win for Norway, 14-16, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6.
They were two gruelling matches for Richards, who deserved better fortune for two gritty performances.
Poole won 12-10, 11-1, 11-5 against Denmark’s Marcus Jepson, while Mummidi defeated Joakim Jepson 11-8, 11-5, 11-4.
The next test for Wales at the Euro Championships in Prague is against second seeds Switzerland, who defeated Netherlands 2-1 and Sweden 3-0.
