Chloe Tutton and Georgia Davies stormed to a stunning golden double for Wales at the British Championships in Glasgow.

Tutton swam the race of the life to win the to shatter the British 200m Breaststroke record at the Tollcross pool.

The City of Cardiff swimmer shattered her personal best by three seconds to win 2:22.34 minutes – beating Molly Renshaw’s record.

Tutton finished a body length ahead of silver medallist Renshaw with Georgia Coates third to claim her first British record.

The 19-year-old said: “It couldn’t have gone any better at all.

“I didn’t expect this. I trained really hard and I knew I had the potential to do it but I guess I lacked the self-confidence.

“I beat it though so that’s fine. I wasn’t hurting too much at the end. I didn’t feel any pain as I was so full of adrenaline.

“I put the improvement down to surrounding myself by happy people. I’ve got a really, super happy coach, and it makes coming a training a lot easier when you’ve got so many happy people to see.”

Tutton, whose time would have been good enough for world silver last summer, could now be called up for the Olympics.

She added:“I knew I could do it. It is my dream and I’d love to be in Rio but it’s not in my hands.”

Commonwealth Games champ Davies had led the Wales gold rush by winning the 100m Backstroke crown.

The 25-year-old, who now races for Loughborough was third overall in the morning heats but dominated the final.

Davies said: “I’m so pleased to be back where I wanted to be but there’s still a lot more that I need to work on.

“There are some girls going really fast all over the world right now at their trials or their nationals so that’s where I want to be.”

Bath’s Lizzie Simmonds was second while Jessica Fullalove took bronze.
