Blackpool have announced the signing of Scott Quigley with the League One club paying £35,000 rising to £50,000 for the 24-year-old forward.

Quigley, one of the JD Welsh Premier League’s brightest prospects, joins on a two-year deal with an option for an additional year. A future sell-on clause has also been included as part of the deal.

“He’s a young, powerful forward who fits in the with the model we’re trying to develop at the club,” said Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer.

“He’s good with both feet, has played and scored in Champions League qualifiers and is now hungry to work hard make the breakthrough in English football.”

Quigley made his Saints debut in 2012 before continuing his development on loan at Carmarthen Town and Cefn Druids before establishing himself at Park Hall.

Quigley scored 8 goals in 11 (+7) league appearances last season but it was his impressive performances in the Champions League qualifiers this summer which caught the attention of potential suitors.

“I’m really happy to be here and I’m looking forward to a new challenge. I’, just eager to get going and start training,” he said.

“I’m 24 now and it’s about time I made the step into the English system I’m glad to have this opportunity to prove myself.”

Speculation regarding Quigley’s future intensified over the weekend after he was omitted from The New Saints’ squad against Bangor City.

The Saints still have Greg Draper and Wes Fletcher who can operate up-front but it remains to be seen whether recently appointed manager Scott Ruscoe will actively pursue a new striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Yesterday, the club confirmed the arrival of Shrewsbury Town youngster Callum Roberts, who joins on loan until January.

Roberts will provide cover to the Saints squad at left-back with Chris Marriott sidelined through injury.

Roberts is in contention to make his debut in The New Saints first home fixture of the season against title rivals Bala Town on Saturday.
