Thomas Stays In Title Hunt In Switzerland

Geraint Thomas kept in title contention at the Tour de Suisse after finishing in the main bunch on stage two in Baar.

The Cardiff-born rider finished in the main pack in 13th spot three seconds down on Peter Sagan who won the stage.

Thomas was protected by his teammates as he is Team Sky’s leader at the nine-day event which is likely his last race before the Tour de France.

The 30-year-old, who finished second last year, is now 17th overall just 16 seconds adrift of new race leader Jurgen Roelandts of Belgium.

The Lotto Belisol rider is just one second ahead of Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara who won the opening time trial stage.

Thomas has already won the Volta ao Algarve and Paris-Nice races and anpther victory would be the perfect boost ahead of the Tour which starts on July 2.
