Geraint Thomas is relishing racing in front of his home crowds at the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.
The Cardiff-born rider was confirmed in Team Sky’s six-man squad for the race which gets underway in Edinburgh on Sunday.
Thomas will be joined in the team by fellow Cardiff born rider Owain Doull with the race finishing in their home city on September 11.
The 31-year-old said: “The support from the British fans is always fantastic and it’s going to be great to race at home.
“We’ve got a strong squad coming and I’m really looking forward to it.
“Coming back to Cardiff is going to be special and it’s something the Welsh guys have been talking about since the route was announced.
“I’m sure the fans will do us proud.”
Thomas will be making his comeback after busting his collarbone on a crash on stage nine of the Tour de France on July 9th.
He was lying second having become the first Welsh rider to wear the coveted Yellow Jersey after winning the opening time trial in Dusseldorf.
Doull, who won Olympic gold in Rio last summer, is in his first season with Team Sky.
