Tesni Evans recovered from losing the first game to reach the second round of the CIB Black Ball Open in Cairo.
The No 8 seed triumphed 3-1 against England’s Lucy Turmel.
Evans will now face No 12 seed Olivia Clyne of the USA in the second round on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old, whose last game was a second round defeat at the Egyptian Open in Cairo in October, lost the opening game 11-6 to her rival from Ipswich.

Evans took the second game 12-10 after a real battle but then reeled off the next two 11-8, 11-4 against the world No 36 to win in 52 minutes.
“I’m just happy to be through to be honest, because for two games I was completely outplayed,” said Evans.
Wales have two representatives in the tournament with world No 28 Emily Whitlock having switched allegiance in the summer.
The 26-year-old, who reached a career-high 12 in the world in 2017, was born in Macclesfield but is now based in Colwyn Bay.
Whitlock faces a tough game as she will be up against England’s No 5 seed Sarah-Jane Perry.
