The Men’s National Autograss Championships certainly lived up to expectations, with two days of spectacular racing held over the weekend on the Castle Lloyd Farm race track near Red Roses in Carmarthenshire.

Some 400 cars took part in the race meeting, and there was plenty of success for the local South Wales League drivers.

Carmarthen Autograss Club’s Dan MacKenzie took the Champion of Champions race victory to defend his title in CA44, after benefitting from a mistake by rival Tom Lewis on the final lap.

Steven Lindsay, from the Pembroke Haven & District Autograss Club, also had a great race meeting and was crowned Class 9 National Champion in PHD1.

Other notable performances included Viv Cole (CM4) who finished sixth in Class 3. Huw Jones (CM7) from Bancffosfelen finished second in Class 4 after missing out on victory on the final corner. Rob Corbett from Cenarth had to be content with third, while Dorian Llety Shon from Felinfach finished sixth after taking a heat win to make the final.

Class 5 saw Luke Jenkins claim fifth in PHD7, whilst Class 6 saw the defending champion Dalton Thomas take the runners-up spot in CM8.

Next up are the Ladies and Juniors National Autograss Championships, when 300 cars race at Red Roses on 18-19 August.
