Swansea City have sent young striker James Demetriou out on loan to non-League Wealdstone for the rest of the season.
Demetriou, 20, joined the Swans 18 months ago from Nottingham Forest on a two-year deal.
But he has yet to make a first team appearance – featuring solely for the club’s U21 side – and has been despatched to the National League South in order to gain some competitive experience.
Demetriou was born in Australia and was a junior with Sydney Olympic but has represented Cyprus at U19 level.
He made his first appearance for Wealdstone on Monday night as a second-half substitute as they beat Hayes & Yeading, 3-0 in football’s sixth tier.
Last summer Demetriou found himself in water with the FA when he was fined £700 for betting offences.
A statement on the FA website said the Australian had been “severely warned as to his future conduct and fined £700 after admitting multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting”.
He said afterwards, “It wasn’t fun, and it’s not something that I ever plan on going through again.
“It was a mistake, an honest mistake, I wasn’t aware of the rules. But I know that’s not an excuse and I’m not using it as one. What I am sure of, is that I apologised profusely for it and know that it will never happen again.”
