Head coach Jason Strange hailed Wales U20 young guns after a record-breaking eight-try romp against Scotland.

The 65-34 win at Broadwood Stadium kept Wales in with a chance of a top two finish with second-placed Ireland next up at Parc Eirias on March 11th.

Kieran Williams, with two, Cameron Lewis, Corey Baldwin, Rhun Williams, Rhys Carre, James Botham – grandson of cricket legend Ian – and Morgan Morris all scored.

Cardiff Blues’ outside-half Ben Jones added 25 points with the boot.

Wales’ victory bettered the 46 points they racked up against Italy with not even the six tries Scotland scored in reply denting the win.

Strange said: ”It was an outstanding attacking display. In getting 65 points away from home, the boys deserve a huge amount of credit for the way they came here and did that.

“I know we conceded six tries, but I’d prefer to look at all the positives that came out of the game first and to say how much I enjoyed watching that performance. We do need to be a bit more resilient going forward.

“We defended well in phases, but on the back of their line-out game and some individual defensive errors, we let ourselves down on a couple of occasions.

“However, that shouldn’t take away from a memorable victory for Wales U20.

“We’ve got it all to play for now when we go to Parc Eirias to face Ireland on 11 March.

“It’ll be a tough game yet again, but if we can play the way did today, in front of our brilliant home crowd, anything can happen.”

Wales are third in the U20 Six Nations table three behind Ireland – who beat France 27-22 – and six adrift of England whose 46-0 win over Italy was their third bonus point victory in a row.
