Steven Fletcher says he is looking forward to another season with Wrexham after signing a new one-year deal with the club.

The 37-year-old former Scotland striker joined the club last summer after a spell at Dundee United.

He scored eight goals in 34 games for Wrexham and will return for their League One campaign, having helped them earn promotion from the fourth tier last season.

Fletcher said: “I’m delighted to have signed another year, and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.”

Manager Phil Parkinson added: “We’re pleased Steven has re-signed. He played a key role on and off the pitch last season and we look forward to working with him again in our League One campaign.

“Not only his goals but his influence on the training ground. It is great to have a player of his experience and calibre, and I am looking forward to working with him again.

“He has got real quality. He missed the whole of pre-season last year and we had to gradually get him up to speed when he came to us but he showed what a really good professional he is all the way through the season, and he is a big help with the younger players as well.

“He is a good player to have for our League One campaign.”

Fletcher has played for Hibernian, Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland, Marseille, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Dundee United.

The deal will take the 33-cap ex-international past his 38th birthday having now made more than 700 career appearances.
