Stanford Set For Gold Coast Return

Team Wales skipper Non Stanford will get another crack at the Commonwealth Games course when she returns to the Gold Coast next month as part of the British team at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final.

The former world champion finished eighth at the Gold Coast and is one of 34 elite athletes named by British Triathlon for the return event between 12-16 September.

Stanford is joined by another Team Wales member from April, Olivia Mathias. She was part of the Wales Mixed Relay Team that finished 6th at the Gold Coast and in July she finished fifth at the ETU European Sprint Championships.

Mathias will compete in the Under 23 section, while north Walian Matt Willis is included in the junior section. Willis has already won the European Junior triathlon and World Duathlon titles this year.
