Peter Creed’s hopes of an Irish Open title were dashed after a four game defeat in his semi-final in Dublin.
The Caerphilly-born ace, seeded six for the event, took a tight first game 12-10 against No 7 seed Mahesh Mangaonkar.
But his Indian rival responded to take the next three games 11-4, 11-2, 11-3 in 49 minutes at the Fitzwilliam LTC against the nine-time Welsh champ.
Mangaonkar will now face No 3 seed Campbell Grayson of New Zealand in the final.
Creed, 63 in the latest world rankings, had beaten unseeded Christopher Gordon in his opening match before dispatching Scotland’s No 4 seed Alan Clyne in the last eight.
