Tesni Evans saw her Hong Kong Open bid ended after a 78 minute battle with English rival Sarah-Jane Perry.
The Cardiff-born, Rhyl based ace took the first two sets against the woman who she beat for the first time to reach the semi-finals of the US Open last month.
But Perry launched a comeback to reel off the next three sets of their third round contest in the $164,500 tournament at the Hong Kong Squash centre and take some measure of revenge.
Evans, ranked a career high No 9 in the world but seeded 12 for the event, won the first set 11-7 and took the second 17-15 after a gruelling battle against the eighth seed.
But any hopes of repeating that Philadelphia triumph against the world No 6 from Birmingham were dashed as Perry took the next three sets 11-8, 11-3, 11-4.
It's comeback complete for @SJPerry15 …
