Tesni Evans has booked a quarter-final spot at the Carol Meymuller Open with a convincing win in New York.
The Rhyl-based played, seeded four for the Brooklyn event, took 49 minutes to dispatch Zeina Mickawy.
Evans, 26, took the first two sets 11-8, 11-8 and though she lost the third 11-6, to the Egyptian sealed the second round win 11-9 in the fourth set.
The Cardiff-born world No 12 will now face another Egyptian in Salma Hany, seeded seven, in the last eight tonight.
Evans will be looking to at least repeat her run to the semi-finals of the US Open last week.
Hany came through her second round match in straight sets in 29 minutes against England’s Julianne Courtice.
