It’s OK In Ohio For Tesni Evans As She Reaches Quarter-Finals

Tesni Evans has powered into the quarter-finals of the Women’s Cleveland Classic in Ohio.

The 26-year-old beat Canada’s Danielle Letourneau in four games – 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7 – in her second-round match.

Evans is seeded No 2 for the $51,200 tournament at the Cleveland Raquet Club. She received a bye in the first round.

The Rhyl-based player will face No 7 seed Egypt’s Mayar Hany in the quarter-finals.

Hany is ranked 24 in the world, 13 places behind Evans who has slipped out of the world’s top 10 into 11 in the latest rankings.

But fellow Welshman Joel Makin has reached the top 20 for the first time in his career having moved up four places from his previous best to 19th.
