Russell Slade has admitted he has not yet had any discussions about his future as Cardiff City manager.

Slade’s contract runs out at the end of the season and whether he is offered a new deal is likely to depend on if the Bluebirds are promoted.

Cardiff are ninth in the Championship four points outside the top six but Slade insists he is not thinking about any contract talks with owner Vincent Tan just yet.

The 55-year-old said: “I’ve not started negotiations about a new contract.

“We will talk about that when we are ready, but there’s no problem with that at all.

“We’ve got games coming up thick and fast. I’m quite happy if we sit down at the end of the season, take stock and see where we are, that’s fine.

“It’s in our interests to see how we progress over the next few weeks. It could possibly be in the summer.

“I will be very enthusiastic to sit round the table and have a chat. I’ve got no problem at all.

“It could be before the end of the season.

“Who’s to say Vincent does not jump on a plane over the next few weeks and we sit down and have a chat and see where we go from there? But who knows? We will wait and see.”
