Laura Deas just missed out on a skeleton medal at the European Championships in Innsbruck.
The Wrexham slider finished fifth having been lying eighth after the first of her two runs in Austria.
Deas’ result was her best at a World Cup meeting – which was incorporated into the event – since she won bronze at last year’s Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
The 30-year-old clocked 54.87secs on her first run at the Igls Olympic Sliding Track which left her 0.53secs behind Austria’s Janine Flock.
But Deas went quicker on her second run, recording the fourth best time overall of 54.61 secs.
And that promoted her to fifth place 0/84secs behind Flock who claimed her third European title.
Russia’s Elena Nikitina was second just ahead of Germany’s Olympic silver medallist Jacqueline Lolling.
