Ben Llewellin came agonisingly close to a medal in the mixed team shotgun event at the European Games in Minsk.
The 24-year-old joined forces for Team GB with Amber Hill but had to settle for the bronze medal as they were just pipped to bronze by the Czech republic duo of Jakub Tomecek and Barbora Sumova.
The Team GB pair had earlier qualified in third position, scoring 143 from their three qualification rounds, but were unable to bring their morning’s form into the latter stages.
It’s a fourth place finish for @amberjohill and @ben_llewellin in @minsk2019by! Sometimes the toughest position to end up, being just one spot off a medal, but both shooters put in a top performance! Congratulations to both, you do @teamgb proud. #IGoBeyond (📷 LUMIX / Team GB) pic.twitter.com/JLyKn0FApz

Llewellin, who also finished fifth in the men’s shotgun earlier in the Games, lost out in a shoot-off by one after both pairs were tied on a score of 32 after 40 clays.
The Haverfordwest-born marksman, son of Welsh rally ace David, was looking to add to his silver medal from last year’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.
