Sheyi Ojo Aiming To Prove A Point After Joining Cardiff City On Loan

Sheyi Ojo says he aims to prove a point after joining Cardiff City on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

The 23-year-old versatile forward is the Bluebirds third signing of the summer joining striker Kieffer Moore – who has been on international duty with Wales – and Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu.

Ojo, who spend last season on loan at rangers in the SPL scoring five goals, could make his debut in Saturday’s Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday.

“I’ve got a point to prove and I’m really excited for the new challenge. Cardiff City is a massive club with great fans and great players – hopefully I can show what I can do here and fit right in,” said Ojo

“Wherever the ball is, I want to be involved in the game as much as possible. I’m delighted to get here in time for a full week’s training with the team ahead of the first home game this Saturday. Now it’s important that we start right.”

Neil Harris will be looking for a response from City after EFL defeat at Northampton

Ojo has made 13 appearances for Liverpool and also played in the Championship in the past few seasons with Wigan, Wolves and Fulham.

The England youth international is contracted with the Reds until 2023 but is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s long-term plans as he heads out for another loan deal.

Championship rivals Nottingham Forest were also reportedly keen on his signature before Bluebirds boss Neil harris sealed the loan deal.

Harris was unhappy after his side’s 3-0 EFL defeat at Northampton Town and will be expecting an immediate response when the Owls visit this weekend.

At least he will have Moore available after the striker played for Wales against Finland, where he netted the late winner, and in Sunday’s victory over Bulgaria.

You don’t just judge players over one 90 minutes in the Cup ahead of the League season though. You judge them over a period of time. Some are a lot better players than they showed today.

“The standards will certainly be showing against Sheffield Wednesday.
