Sam Duggan scored his first two international goals on his fourth appearance for Great Britain to leave the 18-year-old to reflect on a ‘special moment’ in Belfast.
GB beat Netherlands 14-0 to move level on points with Japan at the top of the World Championship Division One Group B table to set up a winner-takes-all game on Saturday (7.30pm).
“It was fantastic to get my first two GB goals and I enjoyed the experience so much,” said Duggan, who plays for Orebro in Sweden.
“My mum and dad were here to see it, so it really was something special.
“It is great to be part of this team and I am loving playing in a men’s World Championship.”
The winner of Saturday’s match between GB and Japan will be promoted to Division One Group A of the World Championship for 2018.
“The match against Japan is massive and will probably be the biggest I have ever played it,” he said.
“I can’t wait to be part of such an important game for Great Britain.”
