Cardiff Met booked a second successive appearance in the Nathaniel MG Cup final after Adam Roscrow’s lone goal was enough to see off Connah’s Quay at the Deeside Stadium.
The Students, who finished as runners-up last season, will face Cambrian & Clydach in an all-south Wales final on Saturday 19 January.
Connah’s Quay’s semi-final hoodoo continued with a fourth successive defeat at this stage of the competition as they gifted Cardiff Met the decisive goal late in the first-half.
Roscrow was free to score after goalkeeper Jon Danby’s upfield clearance had been successfully charged down by Chris Baker, with the ball falling kindly to the Cardiff Met marksman.
Missing strikers Andy Owens and Michael Wilde, Andy Morrison resorted to playing burly central defender George Horan up-front in the second-half.
But the Nomads were unable to penetrate Cardiff Met’s stubborn defence with their direct approach.
Against the run of play, Elliot Evans threatened to add to the visitors lead striking against the woodwork before fizzing a long-range effort wide.
And Evans should’ve done better after intercepting a Laurence Wilson pass , but couldn’t get a clean strike of the ball from inside the area, much to the relief of Danby.
The Nomads piled on the pressure in the final stages but their attempts were undermined by a lack of invention and the unavailability of their two main goal scorers.
