Robert Croft Vows Glamorgan Are Ready For A Final Blast

Robert Croft believes Glamorgan can keep their bandwagon rolling in Birmingham on Saturday – right up to the pick-up point for silverware.

The county head into Finals Day on the back of three successive wins in the NatWest T20 Blast including a decisive victory against Leicestershire Foxes in the quarter-finals.

Head coach Croft is determined they will approach the semi-final against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston in exactly the same way as previous matches in the competition and is backing his players to deliver on the day.

“We’ve won the last three games of our competition going into Saturday and the last game we had here was a pretty comprehensive performance but we go through each game in isolation and whoever plays the best cricket on the day will win,” said Croft.

“We have experienced players and we’ve had a lot of success. We’ve been very focused on what we want to achieve this year and we’re confident we can take our best game up to Edgbaston.”

With the unusual format of Finals Day and the possibility of playing two games if Glamorgan reach the Finals, Croft believes it’s important the players stick to their usual routines.

“Behind the scenes the preparation from the coaching staff is on both games so we don’t have to rush in any information the players on the day, but from a player’s perspective we always concentrate on the next game and we’re doing the same on Saturday. It’s important to not look too far ahead.”

Batsman Colin Ingram has once again been thriving in the NatWest T20 Blast, striking 451 runs, including a record breaking 30 sixes, but while acknowledging he is an important part of the team, Croft is keen to point out the contributions made by his teammates.

“Colin will be key but every one of our players has done something through the competition so that’s been encouraging,” added Croft.

“When anyone has dropped the baton, there has always been someone there to pick it up, and carry it forward. Everyone in our team is trusted to take ownership of the situation.”
