Nicholson Issues Rallying Call Ahead Of Bangor City Run-In

Kevin Nicholson has called on his Bangor City side to hit top form as they head into the final stretch of the season.

A single point separates Bangor, fourth, from second-placed Bala Town with five games of the JD Welsh Premier League season remaining.

Nicholson has set his sides on leading Bangor into Europe in what his first season in charge.

“We are in contention for a successful finish to the season. With five league games to go and a Welsh Cup semi-final to look forward to, we have a new chapter ahead of us and there is all to play for,” he explained.

The Citizens head to the capital this Sunday to face Cardiff Met looking to maintain their push for an automatic European spot.

“There have been many improvements and little victories along the way this season. We have proven we can take points from every team within the top-six when we produce performances that match our capabilities, individually and collectively. We should approach this new chapter with belief and attack each game with a positive mindset.

“We want to show the best version of ourselves in the forthcoming games with a focus on stepping-up our performance levels to enable us to take more points in the second half of Phase Two. If we do that, we will finish in a very strong position. We will embrace that challenge as a group, one game at a time – starting on Sunday,” added the former Cardiff City coach.

After facing Cardiff Met, Bangor City then host The New Saints before a crucial Welsh Cup semi-final tie with Connah’s Quay.

The Welsh Cup gives Bangor another avenue to secure European qualification in what is likely to be a tense finish to the Welsh season.

“We can show what Bangor City are all about in the weeks ahead – on and off the pitch. This club and everyone connected with it deserve to be part of another European adventure next season,” said Nicholson.

“We are determined to give the fans lots more to cheer about between now and the end of the season. The players and everyone involved will be giving everything they have got for the club and you the fans.

“The role you play is vitally important and very much appreciated. We want your support. Keep getting right behind the players in your numbers and continue to support the team in your best form – home and away.

“It’s not how you start, but it’s how you finish – let’s finish strong by seizing each opportunity and make it happen together.”

The final run in:

2nd. Bala Town, 49 pts: C.Quay (H), Cefn Druids (A), TNS (H), Cardiff Met (A), Bangor (H)
