It’s £5 a ticket for spectators at the Newport County v Crewe Alexandra League Two match this afternoon.

Manager Michael Flynn and his team are hoping a bumper crowd will roar County on at Rodney Parade in a match why ch is crucial to play-off hopes.

“With it being a fiver a ticket, hopefully everyone can get here, and we can get that bumper crowd in,” midfield player Matty Dolan told iFollow Exiles.

“You want to play in-front of the big crowds and you want to perform on the biggest stage that you can.

“So let’s get everyone into Rodney Parade and let’s get the three points.

“You saw when we brought the massive crowds to Tottenham and that Chesterfield game at the start of the season, they are atmospheres that you will never forget as footballers.

“To be fair to them, they create that home and away. I think the away following last week was amazing, it spurred us on and we hope we’ll give them something to shout about next week.

“Crewe are a good footballing side on their day.

“They are fighting for their lives and it will be tough. We’ll go out there and hopefully get them three points.

“We’ll do everything we can to get three points because there’s not a chance in hell that we are going to let the season peter out.”

County will be without injured captain Joss Labadie for the rest of this season, while midfield player Emmanuel Osadebe has returned to Cambridge United following his loan-spell.

“The medical team have received confirmation of Joss Labadie’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which is likely to keep him out for six to nine months,” says Flynn.

“He’s booked in for surgery on Monday and then it’s normal ACL reconstruction and rehabilitation.”

Visitors Crewe, who are 19th, have lost only two of their last six matches in League Two and they are nine points ahead of Chesterfield in the final relegation place. Chesterfield, though, have matches in hand.

“Crewe had a good win in the week and they could have actually beaten us earlier in the season when they had 10 men for an hour,” said Flynn.

“They are a dangerous team on their day and have picked up 10 points out of the last 18. That tells you that they have a lot of fighting spirit.”

The clash with Crewe starts a run of six home matches from the final nine fixtures for Newport.

Tickets for the game remain at just £5 for all ages anywhere in the ground excluding hospitality and the 100 club, with Flynn hoping that offer entices a bumper crowd back into Rodney Parade.

County hope to top 4,000 spectators for the fourth time this season.

“They make one hell of a noise and support the team,” said Flynn. “Five pounds a ticket! I’m hoping that means we will get a big crowd.

“It’s a great gesture by the club and I think the fans deserve that reward. It’s a win-win all round if we get the three points.”

The Exiles have an excellent record at Rodney Parade since Flynn took charge, losing only three of the 22 league matches played there.
