Midfield player Kieran Lewis has signed for Southern League Merthyr Town.
Manager Gavin Williams has already made major progress with plans to recruit his 2018-19 squad and Lewis is among 17 signings.
Former Bridgend College student Lewis, a scaffolder by trade, played for Grange Albion plus Cambrian and Clydach, while he has represented Wales at both college and university level and was also selected for the Great Britain Universities.
He joined Carmarthen Town in 2015 from Port Talbot Town, making 87 league appearances and scoring six goals. “I’ve tracked Kieran for some time and am delighted he has agreed to join us,” said Williams. “He will add quality to our squad which we are going to need for next season.”
Merthyr Town signings so far: 1 Ashley Evans, 2 Adam Davies, 3 Ian Traylor, 4 Ryan Prosser, 5 Kerry Morgan, 6 Scott Tancock, 7 Corey Jenkins, 8 Owain Jones, 9 Kyle Patten, 10 Matthew Harris, 11 Jarrad Wright, 12 Kieran Lewis, 13 Jaye Bowen, 14 Craig Reddy, 15 Lee Price, 16 Miles John, 17 Ed Hewitson (gk).
“I’m delighted these players have committed to the club for next season, especially the players who remain from 2017-18,” said Williams.
“It was quite a turbulent season for everyone and the commitment they showed during difficult times was fantastic.
“I’m looking to add another three or four to further strengthen the squad in addition to Kieran Lewis in what will be an interesting season with a number of new teams in our league.”
