Lee Selby is ready to send another Aussie packing after his postponed world title eliminator against George Kambosos Jr was finally rearranged.

The 33-year-old from Barry’s bout is on the undercard of the Derek Chisora vs Oleksandr Usyk heavyweight blockbuster on 31 October, which will be  live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Selby will become the mandatory challenger to the IBF lightweight title – which Teofimo Lopez will defend in a unification battle with Vasiliy Lomachenko next month – in his bid to become Wales’ first world champ at two weights.

“I’m one step away from a shot at the IBF Lightweight world title and my dream of becoming Wales’ first ever two-weight World Champion,” said the ex-IBF featherweight champ.

“I’m delighted that Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing have managed to get this fight on again.

“Kambosos Jr is a hungry young fighter that I know will bring it all, but I’ve had some of my best performances against Australian boxers stopping both Corey McConnell and Joel Brunker in title fights and October 31 will be no different.”

The pair was due to face in Cardiff earlier this year but that was postponed.

Selby (28-2, 9 KOs) has not fought since beating Scotland’s Ricky Burns via a majority decision at The O2 in London last October.

Sydney fighter Kambosos Jr (18-0, 10 KOs), showed he was one of the division’s rising stars when he beat former World Champion Mickey Bey at New York’s Madison Square Garden in his last bout.

“Lee Selby’s crucial clash with George Kambosos Jr is an exciting addition to the Usyk vs Chisora bill, with more fantastic fights to follow in the coming weeks,” said Adam Smith, Head of Boxing Development at Sky Sports.

“The classy Welshman is one of Britain’s most skilful operators, but the dangerous Kambosos Jr will be determined to fulfil his own ambitions.

“Can Lee Selby produce a vintage performance to earn another world title fight? We’ll find out on October 31st before Usyk and Chisora collide in an enthralling Heavyweight showdown!”
