Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink and Craig Bellamy have both pledged their support for their former Bluebirds team-mate Kevin McNaughton’s benefit match.

Hasselbaink and Bellamy will both play in McNaughton’s match at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, March 26 (3pm).

Steve Thompson, Andy Campbell, Darren Purse, Robbie Fowler, Stephen McPhail, Robert Earnshaw and Andy Legg are other former Cardiff players who will be involved.

McNaughton is also keen to include two Bluebirds fans in his team for the Scottish full-back’s last ever game at the club he spent nine years playing for.

He had a close rapport with the City faithful and says: “I can’t think of a better way to say thank you than have two Cardiff fans on the pitch with me in the benefit game.

“I want them to share the experience of saying farewell to the club which was such a major part of my playing career.”

To have a chance of being one of the two people playing alongside some of the giants of the club’s recent history in front of their friends and family at Cardiff City Stadium fans need to be at least 18-years-old and buy a ticket for the testimonial.
The names will be drawn a week before the game.

“Throughout my time spent at Cardiff City I always felt that I had a real connection with the fans,” said McNaughton. “They were the best of any club I have played for.

“The day of my match is going to be an extremely emotional day for me as I say goodbye to the club and city where I saw some of the best times of my career and I want to share that with some of the fans who have supported me so well over the years.

“It’s a great opportunity to give a couple of diehard supporters a once of a lifetime chance to a play on the same pitch that their team play on, week in-week out. I just hope they don’t outrun me!”

Standard tickets for the match are £10 with concessions available and can be purchased via the Cardiff City ticket website. The ticket office telephone number is 0845 345 1400.
