Welsh gymnast Jemima Taylor has been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in Turkey.
Taylor, from Bassaleg, aged 13, will be accompanied to Antalya as part of the travelling British delegation by Welsh head national women’s artistic coach Tracey Skirton-Davies. The event takes place from 29th March to 2nd April.
Taylor, who turns 14 this month, began her gymnastics journey at City of Newport Gymnastics Academy. She has been training at Sport Wales National Centre under the guidance of the national coaches since the age of seven.
She was British floor and beam champion in the espoir age group (12-13 years) in 2021 and retained the floor title at last year’s Artistic British Championships, when she also bagged herself a silver medal in the all-around competition in that age category.
This weekend Taylor will compete as a junior (14-15 years) at the Welsh Open Artistic Championships in Cardiff.
At last year’s Welsh Championships she was second overall in the espoir category and first on beam.
