Jake Hapgood will bid to continue his rich run of form when he lines-up for Wales against England, Ireland and Scotland at golf’s Home International Championship for the Raymond Trophy on Wednesday.
Hapgood – who led the way for Wales at the recent World Amateur Team Championships in Ireland – is part of the 11-man Welsh team, along with Ben Chamberlain and Tom Williams.
That trio tied 18th out of 72 nations at for the Eisenhower Trophy at the Carton House course, where Hapgood had the best individual score, finishing 8-under over the four rounds.
The Southerndown player also finished seventh at the Scottish Championships at Gleneagles two weeks ago.
Chamberlain finished on -5 at the World Amateurs and Williams on -3. The best score was the Spaniard Alejandro Del Rey, who finished on -23.
This time, Wales will enjoy home advantage at Conwy Golf Club, where Ireland will be defend their title won in 2017 at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds.
The round robin match play championship is played over three days. Matches consist of five foursomes in the morning followed by ten singles in the afternoon with the winner being the country with the highest number of match points at the end of the three days.

Host to the tournament, Conwy, has a long and impressive history of holding top level golf championships including professional events such as the S4C Ladies Championship of Europe in 2010 and The Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open in 2012.
In the amateur game the club held the 2016 Women’s Home Internationals and in 2020 will host the Curtis Cup.

The championship will run from 12-14 September. In the opening matches on Wednesday, Ireland will play Scotland whilst Wales take on England. Spectators are welcome to watch some of the best players in GB&I compete for their respective countries.
