Cardiff City won’t miss Lee Tomlin’s injury record but they might just miss his flair and outrageous goals after making the decision to release him after an injury hit spell at the club.
Tomlin says “he loved trying to get the fans off out of their seats with excitement”, but he has divided opinion in recent seasons due to his lack of game time on the pitch.
He is the type of player Cardiff could desperately do with at the moment as Mick McCarthy’s side are struggling to create chances and entertain the fans.
However, the 32-year-old only made five league appearances last season and has not managed to play a single minute this time around.
Lee Tomlin’s terminated his contract at Cardiff.

He played his best football at the club under Neil Harris and was a big part in Cardiff’s rise to the play-off’s in the 2019/20 season.
However, since undergoing surgery on his groin a year ago, he has not been able to recover and the club have now made the decision to release him by mutual consent.
“Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that following lengthy discussions, Lee Tomlin has left the club by mutual consent,” Cardiff wrote in a statement.
“Lee made 57 appearances and scored 11 times having signed for the Bluebirds in 2017.
“We’d like to thank him for his contribution and wish him the best for the future.”

With Harry Wilson, Sheyi Ojo, Junior Hoilett and Josh Murphy all departing in the summer, many Cardiff fans were banking on the return of Tomlin to help fill the absence of an out and out creative midfielder.
But there is now a feeling around the club that Tomlin has run out of time to get fit and can no longer justify his contract.
