Cardiff Ice Skating Club duo Emily Evans and Maeve Barratt have qualified for the British Solo Ice Dance Championships.
The British Ice Skating (BIS) event will see over 100 skaters from the UK competing at Ice Sheffield from July 9th to 12th.
Seven qualification competitions for the event have taken place over the past six months.
Evans and Barratt competed in three qualifiers in Telford, Lee Valley (London) and Queensferry (Deeside), finishing in the top 10 in each of these competitions.
Newport’s Evans will take part in the Basic Novice Ladies Category
The 11-year-old is a previous British Championship competitor having placed sixth in Couples Ice Dance in 2017 and 12th at the British Solo Ice Dance Championships in 2018.
She is also a member of the Great Britain Development Squad.
Monmouth’s Barratt will take part in the Advance Novice Ladies Category
The 15-year-old is also a previous British Championship competitor, skating in the 2018, 2017 and 2016 British Championships.
The duo skate at the Viola Arena in Cardiff, training approximately 15 hours on ice and two hours off ice at the rink each week.
Their Coaching Team in Ice Dance in Cardiff are Danielle Evans, James Rigden and Lucy Strange.
