Ian Traylor scored twice for Merthyr Town in their 2-2 Evo-Stik Southern League draw against Farnborough at the Rushmoor Community Stadium in Surrey.
Both teams had a player sent off during an eventful second half.
All the goals came after the break, while Farnborough’s Connor Calcutt and Martyrs defender Jarrad Wright were dismissed on straight red cards.
The loss of Wright, who returned from a one-match ban to play at Farnborough, is a blow to Merthyr, who already have Craig Reddy serving a four-game suspension.
Referee John Pike produced his red card after Wright tackled Calcutt, who reacted to the challenge.
“I couldn’t see clearly, but the players have told me Connor was hit by an horrific challenge,” said Farnborough manager Spencer Day.
“He reacted and picked the Merthyr player up by his shirt.

“The red cards were a catalyst for letting Merthyr back into the game.”
Calcutt had headed Boro in front after 68 minutes, before he went off along with Wright 15 minutes from time.
Within second of the pair leaving the pitch Merthyr were level with Ian Traylor running clear and firing home by lobbing over goalkeeper Aiden Upward after 76 minutes.
Farnborough then made a bad error when they had a throw-in and lost possession with the Martyrs producing another flowing attacking move. It was Traylor again who scored, firing low past Upward.
Merthyr were 2-1 ahead with less than 10 minutes left and the Welsh team looked likely winners.
But Farnborough’s Daniel Walker equalised after 87 minutes to complete a 2-2 draw.
The Martyrs, though, are on a solid run of form. They have suffered only one defeat in their last six matches.
