James Tomlinson and Sarah Omoregie have been called up for the GB Under20- team for the prestigious Halle Throws International in Germany from June 1-2.
The Welsh duo will be part of a 10-strong squad for the meeting which is one of the most highly-regarded on the international throwing calendar.
Pembrokeshire prospect Tomlinson is named just days after finishing third in the discus while competing for the GB junior team at the Loughborough International.
The 19-year-old took his personal best out to 59.75metres at a meeting in Leira last month after a Welsh Athletics training camp in Portugal.
Cardiff AC’s Omoregie produced a personal best for the shot of 15.37m in Loughborough when she was also competing for the GB junior team.
The mark met the qualifying standard for this summer’s European Under 20 Championships and took her to 11th on the all-time British junior lists.
Peter Stanley, Head of Field & Combined Events at British Athletics, said: “It is a pleasure that each and every year we are able to take a team to such a highly-rated and world-renowned event in Halle.
“We have once again selected a strong team of British throwers, many of whom have started the season in career best perform.
“Halle is a perfect opportunity for both senior and age-group athletes to test themselves against the best in the world as an important year for all involved continues. It is also very positive that each athlete has their own coaching network, which can be seen as a very encouraging illustration of the quality of our developing throws coaches.”
