Jonny Clayton admits he is relishing the chance to partner Gerwyn Price as Wales look to win the World Cup of Darts for the first time.
The duo get their campaign underway against Russia in the Salzburgarena in Austria on Friday (6 November) having been installed as the bookies’ favourites.
“To play with such a great player as Gezzy you just stand behind him when he’s flying and it gives you a big confidence boost,” said the Pontyberem thrower.
“At this present time he is the best player in the world and it’s an honour to partner him.
“If the darting world think we are good enough to win it, that’s got to be a good positive.
“Whatever sport you play, I’m a proud Welshman and to put on that Welsh jersey it doesn’t get any better.
“Lifting the World Cup would just be a bonus to go with it.”
Wales have twice been finalists in the event – in 2010 and 2017 – but go into this year’s tournament with a pair of darters in top form.

Price won back-to-back Autumn titles and the World Series of Darts during a recent 17-match unbeaten streak.
And though Price missed out in last weekend’s European Championships, dropping to third in the world as a result, Clayton reached his first-ever semi-final where he lost to eventual winner Peter Wright.
Price and Clayton have been seeded second behind England while Wright, who helped Scotland to the title last year, has not travelled to Austria.
