Tesni Evans was left gutted after bowing out of the Carol Weymuller Open in New York despite taking a two set lead.
The Rhyl-based player looked to be heading for another semi-final appearance in the United States after winning the first two sets 12-10, 11-6 against Salma Hany.
But Evans, seeded No 4, then lost the next three 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 to the Egyptian who was ranked seven for the tournament in Brooklyn.
Cardiff-born Evans would have been hoping to repeat her run to the semi-finals of the US Open against an opponent ranked three places below her in the world lists at 15.
Evans, who turned 26 last week, will now focus her attention on her next tournament in Hong Kong.
