Gareth Evans made a record-breaking start to the new 67kg category as he lifted his way to three British bests at the European Championships in Georgia.
The Holyhead-based lifter – who won Commonwealth Games gold at 69kg in Australia last year – produced a snatch of 125Kg – 10kg on the previous record.
Evans’ clean and jerk of 160Kg was also an improvement of 10kg with his 285kg total giving him his third British record in Batumi where he was The competing for Great Britain.

The 32-year-old’s exploits follow that of training partner Hannah Powell who also set three British record in the women’s 45k category on Saturday.
