Callum Evans saw his European Championships adventure ended after losing his last 64 game in Spain.
The Tonyrefail product had produced the best table tennis of his career to reach the knock-out stages against Europe’s best in Alicante.
Evans, who had been seeded 101, was beaten 4-0 by Germany’s Ricardo Walther – losing 11-7, 11-4, 11-9, 11-7 to his opponent who was ranked 14.

The Welsh champ had stunned Serbia’s Marko Jevtovic, a player who had been ranked inside the top 70 in Europe, in his preliminary round knock-out match.
Evans beat Jevtovic 4-3 in a thrilling match – winning 13-11 in the final set to set up Thursday’s clash with the German.
