Tesni Evans saw her Hong Kong adventure come to an end in the quarter-finals.
The 25-year-old had become the first Welsh woman to reach the last eight of a world series event.
Evans, seeded 14 for the event, took the first game against England’s Laura Massaro 11-4 on Friday.
But the world No 4 hit back to win the next three 11-8, 13-11, 11-6 to see off her Cardiff-born rival.
Evans, now based in north Wales, had beaten England’s number eight seed Alison Waters to reach the quarters.
In the first round Evans – ranked 16 in the world – had seen off Holland’s Milou van der Heijden.
