Tesni Evans saw her US Open challenge ended with a second round defeat by Egypt’s Raneem El Welily.
The Cardiff-born player lost 11-8, 11-3, 11-4 to the former world No 1 in their clash at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
World No 17 Evans was seeded 15 for the $165,000 tournament but saw the No 2 seed come through in 28 minutes.
El Welily, now ranked third in the world, set-up an all-Egyptian encounter in the quarter-finals against Nouran Gohar, the No 5 seed.
Five-time Welsh champ Evans had beaten another Egyptian, Heba El Torky, in three games in the first round.
