European Opponents Confirmed For Welsh Premier League Clubs

The four teams representing Wales in European competition found out their first qualifying round and potential second qualifying round opponents in today’s draw in Switzerland.

Champions The New Saints will begin their UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign at home to Europa FC (Gibraltar) on Tuesday 27 June.

The Saints will be expected to advance over the two legs but would face a challenging second qualifying round against Croatian champions HNK Rijeka.

In the UEFA Europa League, Welsh Premier League runners-up Connah’s Quay face Finnish runaway leaders HJK. The Nomads would face Dacia Chisinau (Moldova) or KF Shkendija (Macedonia) in the second qualifying round.

Bangor City have drawn Danish Superliga side Lyngby BK and then potentially Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia) or FC Pyunij (Armenia).

Welsh Cup winners Bala Town were drawn against FC Vaduz of Lichtenstein in their first qualifying round tie followed by Odds BK (Norwary) or Ballymena United (Northern Ireland) should the Lakesiders progress.

Both Connah’s Quay and Bala Town will play their home fixtures at Rhyl FC so exact dates are to be confirmed.
