Cardiff Devils have signed the son of former NHL player and Stanley Cup winner Eldon Reddick to join their defensive unit for the 2017-18 season.
Bryce Reddick joins Devils from Aalborg Pirates of the top league in Denmark where he racked up eight goals and 25 assists in 58 games last season. He led the Danish League in assists for D-men in 2016-17.
Before going to Denmark, Reddick spent 2015-16 season with Maglerud in Norway where he scored nine goals and added 20 assists in 48 games.
Before turning pro with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the East Coast Hockey League, he spent four years at Michigan Tech University where he was converted from a forward to the blueline.
Reddick was born in Winnipeg in 1989, where his father Eldon ‘Pokey’ Reddick was playing in the NHL for the Jets. His father was the Jets’ netminder in the late 1980s and went on to win a Stanley Cup with Edmonton Oilers in 1990.
Devils head coach Andrew Lord loves his style of play, saying: “Bryce is a good skater and has a knack for scoring goals. He has a great one-timer and can jump into the play to join the rush.
“He moves so well and is great in his own end. He is only 5ft 10ins, but plays with an edge and is tough to beat defensively.
“Bryce is a real competitor and when you watch him play, he plays with such passion. Our fans are going to love the way he plays for us.”
Devils still have another defenceman to sign and at least one more forward. More signing news is expected next week.
Devils now have a total of 18 players confirmed for the new season – both netminders, six D-men and 10 forwards.
