Aled Davies smashed his own shot put world record in Sheffield to show he will be the gold medal favourite at the Rio Paralympics.
The Bridgend powerhouse, 24, hit 16metres 14cms with his penultimate throw while competing against able-bodied rivals at the British Championships.
Davies’ effort saw him finish fifth overall. His previous best was 15.93m set at last year’s championships.
Davies, who competes in the F42 category, is aiming to compete in the shot in Brazil this summer after the discus event was removed rom the Paralympics
He won gold in the discus at London 2012 and bronze in the shot and is the current European and world champion in both events.
