Chaz Davies stepped up the pressure on World Superbikes leader Jonathan Rea by blasting to a superb double win at Imola.
The Knighton-born flier followed up his win on Saturday with another comfortable victory on the Italian track on Sunday.
Davies won by four seconds from title pacesetter and brother-in-law Rea to cut his deficit to 35 points over his Kawasaki rival.
The win was even sweeter for the 29-year-old as his double – his second in three rounds – came on Ducati’s home turf.
Davies said: “It’s just been an incredible weekend, from start to finish.
“The latest upgrades Ducati brought for the Panigale R in Aragon allowed us to compete for the win in each race lately.
“To seize a victory here in Imola, Ducati’s backyard, is special. To do a double, is unbelievable.
“We head to Sepang with confidence, as we have a more competitive package than last year, when we still left Malaysia with a second place and a win.
“Our goal is to keep the momentum and further cut the gap in the championship.”
