Chaz Davies is California dreaming about launching his World Superbikes title fightback at Laguna Seca.
The Knighton-born flier roared to his first double on the Ducati Panigale R bike at the famous track last year.
Davies beat the Kawasaki duo of Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea into second and third place.
And the 29-year-old could do with repeating the feat Saturday and Sunday having slipped off the title pace in the last couple of rounds.
Davies headed to North America third in the Championship standings on 244 points -= 99 behind reigning champ Rea and 33 adrift of Sykes.
Last year’s runner-up said: “I really enjoy riding in Laguna Seca, it’s different from any other track on the calendar and quite demanding, both for the bike and the rider.
“All season long, we’ve always had the pace to fight at the top, but the last few rounds haven’t been as smooth as we would have liked.
“Some unexpected difficulties have slowed us down a bit and we’ve lost points in the championship. That said, I still believe we can turn things around but we need to start now.”
